Harry Potter is 11 years old. He is the only person to ever live through a killing curse known as 'Avada Kedavra'. It was believed that the curse back-fired and reduced Voldemort to a ghost, 'barely alive' as quoted by Voldemort himself.
Harry Potter meets lots new friends at school, including Ron Weasly, Hermione Granger, and Neville Longbottom. Harry was placed into Gryfindor House.
Later in the school year, Harry encounters Voldemort in a mad chase to save the philosiphers stone.
